Building on the success of past Institutes
sponsored by Talbot Hall at The Ohio State University Medical Center,
the 2010 Addiction Studies Institute
will emphasize a full continuum of care utilizing evidence-based and
promising
practices presented by Ohio and national experts.
Plans for the August 18-20, 2010 Institute promise an array of dynamic
educational choices for the chemical dependency counselor, social worker,
prevention
specialist, criminal justice professional, physician, nurse and other healthcare
specialist.
Guidelines
Following the instructions for preparing proposals, quality of the proposal, importance and timeliness of the topic and applicability to alcohol and other drug prevention, treatment and recovery support services will be the criteria for the selection of proposals.
Presenters can submit more than one proposal, but the requirements listed below
are required for each separate presentation.

Completed online application form or printable version
which must be typed, including a 50-word abstract. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
A maximum of one speaker per 2.0 or 3.0 hour session or two speakers
per 6.5 hour session
A completed content outline with at least one learner objective
per 60 minutes of presentation time on the provided form (required
on attached form for CEU applications)
A completed biographical form for each speaker (required on attached form for CEU applications)
A complete curriculum vitae or current resume showing formal educational
training, credentials, job experience, etc. (This should NOT be in
a paragraph format)
Applications must be received no later than November
30, 2009

Possible Topics Possible topics for sessions may include: adolescents, counseling the inmate/offender, cultural diversity and special populations, diagnosis, ethics, supervision, mind/body medicine, drugs in athletics, co-occurring disorders, prevention, family relationships, outcome measurement, and pharmacology.
Note: While we welcome proposals on listed and
related topics, some content even though used in addiction medicine, may
not be approved for social work/professional counselor continuing education
credit.
One speaker per 2.0-3.0 hour session or two speakers
per 6.5 hour session will receive free registration to the conference.
Audio/visual equipment excluding laptops will be provided for all sessions.
All applicants will receive notification about their pending application
in January 2010.
